Today is day one of the project (hereinafter, "the Project" or "The Project").
It's been a hectic few months. Basically, my triglycerides are through the roof, blood pressure's up, closing in on diabetes, etc. I feel like I've gotten the chat that men in their late 50s get ("George, those years of bacon and eggs have caught up with you...") - but I got mine in my mid-30s.
I'm tired of feeling fat. Of having to gradually buy ever-larger sizes of dress shirts. I'm tired of feeling close to financial ruin. Sick of wondering why we can never afford a vacation.
The Project has two prongs - money and health.
In that 'this day is the first day of the rest of your life, way' this is the first day of comprehensive change. Changes in diet and exercise. Changes in bedtime and wakeup time. Changes in spending behavior.
And so in that effort to make this attempt different than the other tries, this time I'm blogging. A pseudo-anonymous diary to the world. To keep me accountable. To track accomplishments as they occur. These next few weeks will be spent mainly refining the goals. Gathering all the pieces of our financial picture.
Since part of the Project is healthier eating (including breakfast), I'm also going to log everything I eat. Part of that accountability thing.
The tedious part:
Breakfast: Strawberry Danon Light (1 pt) and Kashi Bar (2 pts)
Lunch: Two ham and swiss sandwiches (10.5 pts)
Snack: Asian Pear (0 pts - confirmed online!)
Dinner: Pork sandwiches with coleslaw (7 pts) and green beans with a touch of olive oil (.5 pts)Snack: Low fat frozen yogurt with berries (3 pts)
Total for the day: 24
